UpKeep Writes the Book on Asset Operations Management

Written by CEO and Founder of UpKeep, Ryan Chan, Asset transactions introduces and explores the new concept of asset operations management, an operating principle that drives the kinds of technologies needed to attract a new generational workforce, as well as to ensure the continuity of knowledge and intelligence of the company (IDC Survey on Talent Management in the Manufacturing Sector – February 2022).

According to IDC 2021 SaaSPath survey, nearly 50% of organizations still use spreadsheets to manage some or all of their business assets. This form of asset management often leads to data silos in organizations. Second, siled data causes information gaps between teams, which turns into rework. The upkeep 2021 Maintenance Status Report found that 20% of the work done in the field is due to rework, that is, work redone when the original work was poorly done.

Moreover, it is estimated that only 25% of a frontline technician’s day is devoted to productive work. At a time when asset-intensive industries face a massive labor shortagethe movement towards a digital and holistic workforce becomes more necessary than ever.

Asset Operations Management is an approach validated by many customer testimonials and by the industry’s top thought leaders, both of whom feature prominently throughout the text of the book.

In addition, the book aligns with recent research from IDC[1] which states that “For AOM applications to be effective, teams responsible for asset maintenance, equipment reliability, and revenue-generating operations must be aligned around a set of common goals.” Asset transactions includes a detailed common set of pillars on which organizations must unite to achieve excellence in asset operations management.

“Over 3,000 customers have helped us to where the most effective way to manage your maintenance and reliability programs is through a unified approach. We are excited to continue this journey with our customers and partners,” said Chan.

Businesses are currently in an intelligence revolution. IDC Top 10 Asset Management Trends 2022 stated that an important trait of digitally mature organizations is the sharing of data, information and actions across the organization. With Asset transactionsmodern maintenance, reliability and operations teams now have a blueprint for moving successfully into the future.
