Local business owner gets a fresh start in Holly Hill
Elizabeth Day says she’s come a long way since last year when she lost her first salon to a fire, but she’s happy to have a fresh start in Holly Hill.
HOLLY HILL, SC — Elizabeth Day opened Today’s Styles hair salon in Holly Hill last year during the pandemic. She says the city has helped her get a fresh start.
“The kindness, love and kindness of this community has definitely helped me stay with the business longer,” Day said.
Day says she’s been in business for eight months and it’s been a rough start.
“They always say in my industry, the first year you’re going to starve,” she said.
However, she says the Holly Hill community has embraced her with open arms, something she hasn’t experienced in other cities.

“They don’t like to see you on your feet, so when they hear you struggling, they’re definitely the first to say, ‘What can I do for you,'” Day said.
Day says she’s come a long way since last year when she lost her first salon to a fire. She says that for her, Holly Hill is a new beginning.
“To fall into the darkest time after a fire is very devastating, you lose everything. Turning around, doing something, like having a good comeback was amazing,” Day said.

She also says that with talks surrounding more business coming to the Holly Hill area, now is a great time to own a business in town.
“Everyone comes that way, so I definitely see a lot to come in the next two years here at Holly Hill.”
