“Complementary operational capability and aerospace security”

Air Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari argued on Tuesday to focus on a seamless mix of old and new technologies, while maintaining a good safety record for various Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.

Speaking at a conference, he also said operational capability and aerospace security are complementary and symbiotic.

“In pursuit of operational objectives, the preservation of our resources remains a primary objective. No operational objective can be achieved if aircrew and aircraft are lost,” the Air Force Chief of Staff said.

This, he said, is not easy and the force will need to constantly drive safe and effective operations.

“We have introduced modern generation aircraft and equipment with high-end technology. We also continue to operate older equipment,” he said.

“There is therefore a need to focus on the seamless blending of old and new technologies while maintaining a good safety record,” Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari said.

The IAF chief said the rapid infusion of technology into modern aviation has brought new challenges.

“The main challenge is to prepare the human mind to adapt quickly and completely to these technologies. This will require a paradigm shift in the way we train and operate,” he said.

The conference focused on aerospace security and how it is a force multiplier.

Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari said that the new millennium has seen the development of several new aerospace safety management techniques in different spheres of aviation.

“While rapidly modernizing, the IAF continuously addresses and adapts these multi-faceted techniques to improve aerospace safety, maintenance safety, risk management and risk mitigation,” he added. .
