Weed management Course
An intermediate level course that teaches all aspects of weed management in nurseries and greenhouses, including weed identification, development of herbicide programs and the latest non-chemical weed control methods herbs that work. Rated 4.5 out of 5 by participating producers.
Hydroponic vegetable production Course
An intermediate level course where you will learn how to manage different hydroponic systems, as well as the fundamentals of climate, water, nutrition and plant health in these systems. The course also teaches business management and food safety. Rated 4.3 out of 5 by participating producers.
Weed management runs from October 18 to November 12, 2021 and has been approved for CFUs in the state of Florida. It is taught by Dr. Chris Marble, Assistant Professor of Ornamental and Landscape Weed Management in the Department of Environmental Horticulture at the University of Florida. The course growers described him as an instructor who “is very methodical and easy to learn” who introduces “weed management in a thorough and clear manner”.
The production of hydroponic vegetables runs from October 25 to November 19, 2021. The course is taught by a team of instructors from the University of Florida and Cornell University, including Bob Hochmuth, deputy director of the research and development center. UF / IFAS North Florida Education at Live Oak and Regional Specialist Extension Officer for Commercial Vegetable Crops, and Tatiana Sanchez Commercial Horticulture Officer for UF / IFAS in Alachua County. Past participants liked “the way the course guided me through all aspects of hydroponics” and described the instructors as “attentive, responsive and enthusiastic”.
Each class costs US $ 249 per participant, with a 20% discount if you enroll 5 or more. Classes are fully online and include pre-recorded videos, an interactive discussion forum with doctoral professors, and quizzes. Course material is available at any time of the day in English and Spanish, and two new modules are activated each week during each course, for a total of 8 learning modules.
