The DeBary community is in mourning after a business owner was killed in a hit-and-run accident on his way home from work last week.

Susie Trimble owned Susie’s Cool Beans Nursery, located near US Highway 17-92, with her daughter Marina.

“She was my beach partner and best friend so it was tough,” Marina told FOX 35 News.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is looking for a red passenger car, possibly a Hyundai, with damage to the driver’s side and black transfer paint.

Lt. FHP Kim Montes said Burgner was an innocent victim, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“This driver illegally passed her and entered the opposite lane, causing the car on the opposite side to lose control and hitting Susie’s car head-on,” she said.

A 19-year-old woman in the car that lost control also died. FHP seeks advice from the community.

“We found hit and run vehicles from a single dump,” Lt. Montes said.

“Just come on and give us some closure,” her daughter added.

A parent created a GoFundMe page to help Marina and her brother. People also visited the nursery in support.

“Everyone has been so, so wonderful to us. My heart is so full of it even though I lost my mother,” said Marina.
